OUR VERY OWN TORTILLA FACTORY

All corn used at Mercado Mexico is imported from Mexico and shipped to Gothenburg. The corn is grown on a small scale by families in Mexico, they make use of what they themselves need and then sell the surplus to a corn buyer. It doesn't get more organic than that!

Behind the glass window inside Mercado Mexico, the corn is boiled and then ground into a dough. Then the dough goes into one end of the tortilla machine and out the other come ready-baked tortillas. The result can be enjoyed on the spot by ordering something from the tortilla menu, or buy to take home for the Friday night!
